The lunch line was slow and nerve racking. His russet hands pushed his tray along the metal leading to the cashier. He let out a sigh and reached into his pocket, handing the woman 5 dollars. She opened the cash register quickly pulling out the three dollars and seventy-five cents that was his change. "Would you like any dressing?" She asked nodding toward his tray. He was probably the only guy who would be caught with a salad at lunch, but everything else looked like it could jump and kill him. Jordan shook his head and hurried out of the line to the closest empty table.
The day had been long, waking up to his father screaming in his ears at six and being dressed by seven. Having to rush out of the house by eight without food, and waiting until seventh period for lunch. His stomach grumbled and he sat down at the empty gray table. The plastic fork on his tray didn't look like it could pierce through anything, let alone a lettuce leaf. He stabbed the lettuce and shoveled it into his mouth. Suddenly Jordan wished he had accepted the dressing offer. The salad was dry and needed some kind of juice. He sighed, pushing the tray out of the way and letting his arms rest on the gray table. There were hundreds of kids around, and he was stuck sitting alone. What a wonderful choice in schools dad. A bunch of snobby rich kids who could give a d**n about the new kid. Jordan sighed, letting his head fall down onto his arms.

An empty grey table beckoned for Rory's butt to take a nice seat, even if the chairs were cold and stiff. Anything was better than standing. Ballroom dancing wasn't all fun and games, and she had the bruises to prove it. The yellow lunch trey felt heavy in her hands as she rushed to the table. Her stomach rumbled, and her bruised knee throbbed, but she would get that seat!
Then a new kid came and sat there! What a punk! She still walked to the table, though lest hasty now. Her glasses slid a little on her nose as she looked down, so she pushed them up. She was bored and woke up early this morning, so she played around with her look. A red pleated skirt, and oxford with a reddish tie to match her skirt, converse shoes in white, and a sea blue wrist watch, just for funsies.
She smiled shyly at the russet boy, and pulled out a chair.
"Mind if i steal a seat?" She asked

Attention attention May I have your eyes and ears In the front of the room if oh if only for one second Jordan didn't look up and simply groaned, "If you must." He said coldly. He didn't think anything of what she said. He though she was meerly going to take the chairs over to the place where her friends sat. He didn't know exactly how coldly he had said his cruel statement but it didn't bother him. He curved his back, cracking it as he sat up. The girl was still standing there in a schoolgirl uniform.
Jordan bit his bottom lip to keep it from falling back to the table. There was a pretty girl standing in front of him in a schoolgirl uniform. Someone was obviously trying to play a trick on him because back in California it wouldn't of happened. Back in California he would sit with his group of guy friends and crack perverted jokes as girls scowled at them.
"Hi..." Jordan said, his voice low and hollow. He cleared his throat. "Take a seat if ya' want." Jordan lifted an eyebrow at the girl who still was standing there. If she wanted to take the chair she could have just taken it silently and not disrupted him. Though if she didn't disrupt him he probably would have fallen asleep and ended up missing the rest of the day.

"Thanks."
She sat down and her mind gave a sigh. It was good to be away from that nut of a teacher. The bruises would be there forever, but it was worth it. She loved to dance. And sing. She was cursing her Uncle Varlet earlier in the day, when the nut teacher gave her the bruise on her heel, but now she was glad she was forced in to this wretched institution all the way from Eureka. She stuck a fry in her mouth, and started chewing on it.
"So... she said after she swallowed, still a little shy. She wasn't good at this, "I'm Rory Kensington."

Attention attention May I have your eyes and ears In the front of the room if oh if only for one second Jordan smiled at the girl as she took her seat. He was not expecting her to actually sit down. Maybe at Oahu things would change. He placed his elbows on the table and rested his head in his right hand.
His smiling expression faded when he thought of home, his mother and father and little sister. Maybe the old man would die while he was away... But he shouldn't think like that. None the less, his father was only 37 years of age. He sighed and turned back to the nasty salad. "Ugh." He groaned closing the plastic lid and licking his dry lips. If school food wasn't so gross he wouldn't be on the verge of passing out.
Jordan held his hand across the table. "Nice to meet you." He paused for a second, remembering where he was. None of these kids knew anything about him other than his father beat the crap out of him. "I'm Jordan Isotoph." Maybe she wouldn't know the rumor, and maybe she just wouldn't act upon it.

Her stomach took a lurch as he held out his hand. Did he really expect her to touch him? She had a hard time even verbalizing, let alone touching. Even though, she smiled and grabbed his hand. Her brain gave the quick buzz it always did when a guy was present. Always. She kept her composure though. She was an actress.
"Nice to meet you too. Jordan."
She didn't retract her hand, it felt to good. Like a high.

Attention attention So sweet I can hardly speak But your body language is telling me That Your worth a pay so weak i can hardly keep but your body language is telling me that I'm not to blame Jordan blushed, turning his head and taking his hand back. He wasnt planning on letting a girl know that she made him blush. Eventually he turned back and smiled. He was terrible with first time conversations. But those were going to happen more than none at a brand new city. "So, whats with these kids... Their all so... snobby." He tried to think of a word that would be appropriate for school.
According to his mother, Jordan swore like a pirate. He was trying to cut back for the first few months that he was in Oahu. New place, new Jordan. "I mean... If it wasn't for you I'd still be here sitting by myself. What's the deal?" He crossed his arms.
The morality of what he was asking was "who are these kids and why do they seem to hate me already?" but saying it so bluntly would ruin his 'new Jordan' image.

When they broke off the shake, she put her hands back to the fries. She did blush, but she put on enough fake blush this morning so that it looked like nothing. She popped a couple of fries in her mouth as he asked her some questions.
"So, whats with these kids... Their all so... snobby. I mean... If it wasn't for you I'd still be here sitting by myself. What's the deal?"
"Oh, that's because Daddy's not here to defend them. I mean, they've got some credit cards and all, but they just don't want anybody taking what they think is theirs. Its the same thing every year." She scrunched her face up to look like plastic, and continued. " 'Daddy, daddy, buy me that boyfriend over there! Can I keep it?' It sickens me."
She looked at him. Then she smiled, embarrassed at her little speech. "You can clearly tell I have no friends here."

"Ha ha, nice." he looked around the lunch room. It wasn't surprising that they all acted like that. They looked like the kind of kids who would be seen on pointless MTV shows.
"Well, now you involuntarily have one." He smiled at Rory. He was happy to at least have someone who agreed with him about the snobby rich kids that were over powering the school
