your the voice i hear inside my head, the reason that i'm singing.
It was a nice day for it to be the middle of October, it was fairly warm. But then it again, this was Hawaii! It was always warm! Saturday mornings were usually quiet, especially at the park. No one wanted to leave the warm comfort of their beds to come to some deserted park. Everyone except Joey Kennedy. But then again since when had he ever been normal? Good question, but now was not the correct time to come up with a answer to that question.
Currently Joey Kennedy could be found in the park, located under a tree. His back was leaning against the trunk and his acoustic guitar was in it's normal place, in his lap. He never really got any quiet time at the academy, so usually on Saturday mornings he came to the park. Where he was alone, except for the occasional jogger or two. He usually came up with new songs out here, and thought about things. It was a good place to escape all of the gossip. Everything seemed to concern gossip, everyone cared about their social class at the school. Joey could care less. He strummed a few lonely chords on his guitar, looking out at the empty park.

Mary had been walking around the park on that Saturday morning, thinking about just the other day when she had been here before, on her morning jog. She had ran into -- literally -- Caden Renalds, and now, she had returned just to take a walk around the park for a while. She had woken up fairly early that day, just to see the gorgeous sun outside her window. So she had gotten up and dressed for her weekend. She had put on a tee shirt and a vest over red and black checkered pants, and some old black converse. Her hair was it's usual curly self, bouncing all over the place.
She had been walking around the park for a while until she heard the sound of guitar being played, and it was a very beautiful sound. She looked around and saw Joey, her best friend, sitting nearby with his guitar. She walked over and smiled. "Hey!" she said, sitting down beside him and looking at his guitar. "I see you've brought your best friend," she said, gesturing to the guitar. it was a thing she always joked with him about. He was almost always found with his guitar with him.

Joey was lost in his thoughts and at first he didn't realize that someone had sat down beside him, until they spoke. He jumped slightly at the sound of her voice, startled and surprised. But as he looked over at his best friend, he couldn't help but smile. "Why hello there Miss Gomez." Joey said with a grin, inwardly wondering what Mary was doing at the park so earlier. Although Joey loved being in her company, she always knew how to make him smile. That was just one of the many things that Joey loved about his best friend, Mary Gomez.
Yes, he did say love. Joey was falling in love with her, but he felt it was best to keep these feelings to himself. He did not want to lose her friendship, and he was pretty sure she didn't feel the same way. He wasn't sure how it happened, but he now noticed the little things about her. Like how he loved her smile, and the smell of her shampoo. He knew it was wrong to feel this way about your best friend. He knew he shouldn't love her, but he couldn't help it. Joey kicked himself inwardly.
He laughed at her comment about his guitar. She loved to tease him about that, his guitar was practically glued to his side. You rarely saw Joey without his guitar, which is why it wasn't all that surprising to find him sitting in the park. Under a tree, with his guitar in his lap and his song book opened in front of him. Joey had been working on a new song and had finally finished a short while ago. "Haha very funny." He said, sarcastically with a roll of his blue eyes. But with a smile on his face the whole time. "You know your jealous." She said, in a mocking voice. "But don't worry babe, the guitar could never take your place." he said with a smirk. Joey had known Mary for a good while, so it wasn't weird or uncommon for him to speak to her that way. Especially since they loved to joke around and tease each other.

Mary smiled at Joey, happy to see him. They had been friends forever, or that was how it seemed to her. It had really only been about two years, but she wished it had been longer. She had once, last year, had a massive crush on him. But she was over it, now he was just her best friend, not her love interest. She had hated him being a heartbreaker and having girls all over him, so she had just given up thinking of him as more than a friend. Besides, it would just ruin their friendship.
"I'm not jealous, give it here," she said, taking the guitar from him. She knew that nobody was allowed to touch Joey's guitar except for him, but she was an exception. She put the guitar onto her lap and tried to remember what she had played yesterday. She remembered quickly, just as she did with any song. "I wrote another song yesterday," she told him. Being friends with Joey had not only given her someone to talk to, but someone who understood her underneath her shyness. And the two of them loved music, so she shared her music with him. But she did not let anyone else hear her music except him and her brother.
