Every year, on the first weekend after school starts, there is the Annual O'ahu Academy Beginning of the Year BBQ at the Beach. The usually just call it the BBQ, though. There is music, dancing, musicial acts, food, and a ton of other things. This year, the even is held on August 20th. The purpose of this activity is for all the characters to get to know each other! But the event is always known for drama, and people are sure of it this year, expecially because the homecoming dance will be announced to the students. This year, anyone can perform because it's open mike all night. The party starts at six thirty and goes until ten, but you can come at anytime, and leave at any time! Food is served at seven. You can only come if you were emailed the following invitation, if you've made an inbox. if not, don't worry about it!: invitation made by the awesome lyane!
Also, please remember, this dress is not super, prom dress formal, but fun, summer dresses, maybe!

outfit for today!Sawyer slipped on her heels in her dorm room and cheeked herself in the mirror. Her hair fell in waves on her shoulders. She smiled slightly and looked outside the door. She was g0ing to the beach BBQ, as she called it. Just a trick to get people to socialize with new kids, is also what she thought of it. She had nothing against them, unless they joined the Island Princesses or something like that. Like this Demi girl that was new and the only one actually considered new, because she did not have a best friend or someone to cling to like the other four. So Swayer walked quickly from her dorm, down the street, and onto the sand. She could see a few other people already standing around at the beautiful tables and campfire and stage, Hawaiian flowers, tiki torches, umbrellas, and lights everywhere. Sawyer had to admit that even though she hated this thing, it was always gorgeous. And a place lie that just had to be enjoyed. Sawyer called herself her own table and sat down on it. She was surprised that she did not see any of the island Barbie's, how she nicknamed them. She actually felt that that was a good thing, though. She looked up at the stage with the mike. No, no matter how much her brother would pester her, telling her how good she was, she would not dare to sing up there. Only her brother had heard her sing, and the whole choir class, but she rarely sang if she did not have to. But, she did not see her brother anywhere, so things were looking good.

don't take my heart and put it on a shelf
Lyane was excited. Why was she excited? Today was the 10th annual bbq for O'ashu Academy. It was always really fun because you got to meet all of the students who are going to attend the academy. She had even picked out a special outfit for tonight. A floral dress concealed a teal swimsuit underneath. Both had been picked out especially for the bbq. She slipped on a pair of high heels that made her two inches taller. For earrings, she wore her Chanel studs that matched a transparent red bangle on her arm. She stressed about her hair. She wasn't sure tethere to wear it up or down. She finally decided on pinning her bangs back and her hair up in a messy ponytail.
She walked down to the beach, bag in her hand. She arrived early, even before six. She spotted a couple of other peope there. She found a table with five chairs and put her bag on one chair. She hoped that Parker would get here soon, so he could save himself a seat. Lyane was unsure about what her best friend would think. An island princess dating a heartbreaker? Unheard of. Maybe he could move up into the Kings. Someone would have to drop out for that to happen.
This was a very important social event. If you wanted to be homecoming royalty or if you wanted to run for student office, this was a great time to meet people. That wasn't the only reason she came, but it sure was a bonus. She was student-body secretary last year and she wasn't about to give up her spot.

danica walked into her dorm and looked at a calender on her wall. she looked at each date until her eyes stopped at august twentieth. her eyes widened. she had forgotten about the welcome back barbecue! she dropped her purse on the floor and paced over to her closet. she had to have something to wear. her fingers grazed through a rack of clothing on one side and then another, pulling out a purple dress and a silver sequined top. that would do. it was classy, yet girly. she never really dressed super nice for anything, but she never really had to. she quickly got dressed and looked in the mirror. her hair looked decent, but just to be sure, she ran her hand through it. the blonde curls fell back into place where they were before. it didn't seem to work to well. oh well. she wasn't trying to impress anyone. okay that was half true. she slipped her silver sandals on and walked out of her dorm. she walked, rather quickly, down stairs and outside and then to the beach where she saw that the party was already starting, kind of. her blue eyes glanced around, not seeing anyone she knew too well around just yet. someone would show up eventually.

O'ahu's 10th annual bbq. To say he was excited would be an overstatement. A major overstatement. He was really only going because if you were in the kings, you were required to do stuff like that. You had to make appearences at social events and such. This event was better than the others: there was food and the beach. He threw on an outfit and headed down. There were already some people there when he arrived. He saw Danica, the blonde he had met at starbucks. Lyane was there, one of his friends. They had known each other for about four years. He went over to Lyane, giving a wave to Danica as he walked past. "Hey," he said to the brunette once he got to the table. "Mind if I sit?" he asked her.

Lauren walked casually under the arch that she guessed signified the beginning of barbeque territory. It was hard to miss, what with the light up flamingos, palm trees, and umbrellas. She took a place at an unoccupied table. She left her clutch there to reserve the spot. Lauren walked down to the shoreline and took off her shoes. She waded into the ocean and let the waves lap at her ankles. She pondered going in a bit farther.

Demi looked at herself in the mirror, slipping her silver stud earrings into her ears. They were tiny starfish, and gorgeous, but she covered her ears with her hair, anyway, defeating the purpose of putting them on in the first place. Since she had changed her outfit a thousand times, she prayed that this would be the one. The dress was fairly new, and she loved it with her black vest and, of course, converse. She prefered the outfit much more than the black dress, or the pink dress. She was not a dress person, if you could not tell yet. Her hair was actually being manageble today, and she had gotten it to behave and work out just how she had planned it. So, she laced up her converse and grabbed her bag, walking out the door. She was purposly walking slow down the street to the beach, because Lyane had talked her into going. She wanted to go, and knew it would be fun to meet new people, but was scared at the same time. Once she arrived at the beach, she saw the gorgeous decorations and wondered how much work they actually put into this thing every year. It was really fantastic, the lights and decorations. And then, of course, the stage. As much as she wanted to go up there for the open mike night, she was dead set against it, and pushed those thoughts out of her mind. She did not need anymore incidents like the one last week. She tried to push that out of her mind, too. She loved the stage, but obviously Brooke did not want to share it with her. She also saw Lyane right away. Forgeting that she and Lyane were from different social planets, she walked over. "Hey Lyane," she said casually.

don't take my heart and put it on a shelf
In the next few minutes, more people showed up. The first was Jason. They had been friends for about four years. They had been in numerous classes together through out the years. "No!" she said with a smile. "Go ahead!" Now there were only three more seats left. Of course, more people could always pull of chairs, or they could push tables together if the need arises.
Two more blondes arrived. One was the new sopmore, Lauren Kennedy. The other was a junior girl named Danica. The next person to come was Demi. She watched as the girl moved from table to table: ending up at her own. It's not like she didn't like Demi. That wasn't it at all. They were friends, or would be friends. Except for the fact that she was just normal, and Lyane was an Island Princess. As she thought all of this to herself, she realized how selfish she sounded. The girl said hi to her. "Hey Demi," she said. If Brooke was here, lyane would have probably been kicked out of the clique right there on the scene. Thank goodness shw wasn't there. "What's up?" she asked. Hoowever, the question wasn't really directed to Demi or Jason, it was just kind of out there.

i held your hand, it felt like a movie
Parker took some extra time getting ready for tonight. Why? Cause this was the annual beach bbq, when you got to meet all of the students. Plus, Lyane was going ot be there. He debated wehter to wear swim trunks or not. He ddecided against it, knowing that Lyane was probably going to wear a dress and he had to look nice. He finally dedcided on an outfit consisitng of an olive button up shirt, flip-flops, a graphic tee, and jeans.
He walked down to the beach, which wasn' that far from his dorm room. He saw the bbq before he heard any chatter. There were lights illuminatiing the whole place. He sped up his pace, trying to find Lyane in the crows. When he spotted her, he walked over to the table she was at. There was a girl and a guy already sitting there. "Hi," he said to Lyane, and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek as he sat down. He gave a nod to acknowledge the others.

She did not recognize anyone around her, or anyone at Lyane's table. She really wished she did, though. If they were Kings or Island Princesses, well, she did not want to hang out with them. She hated how some of them just stuck up her noses. Of course, she had never figured that one of them would be her first friend at the school. And luck for her, Lyane was not like that. Demi smiled as she watched a few other people arrive at the dance. Then, she suddenly remembered that she was talking to Lyane, AKA an Island Princess. She hoped the Brooke was not coming anytime soon. But Lyane and Demi were friends, they talked all the time, but not in school, and mostly through technology. She finally snapped out of her daydream to respond to Lyane, "Oh, not much, but I'm glad you convinced me to come here, the beach looks so beautiful," she said, smiling.
ooc: eek, short! sorry, writer's block!

Lauren went to sit down at her table. It was obvious by now no one was about to engage her in conversation, so she stood back up and approached Lyane and Demi. "Hi. My name's Lauren. And you are?" She looked at their outfits and spied swimsuit ties under Lyane's dress. Thank goodness Lauren wasn't the only one.

speechless, over the edge and just restless. danica glanced over as jason waved at her. she smiled and politly waved back, quickly putting her hand back down at her side. she watched him walk to his tbale for a moment and looked away. as she looked around, she noticed that new girl that everyone had been talking about at school. she seemed nice, but she didn't feel like introducing herself just yet. she figured she'd let her get accquainted with all of the others before she decided to befriend if, she wanted to. danica sighed and walked to an empty table. she was used to sitting alone at functions such as this. it wasn't a bad thing to her, she simply did not mind at all. seating herself, she glanced around at everyone, trying to remember their names if it were possible.

now there were two more people at the table. there was a blonde who intro duced herself as lauren and some guy who obviously knew lyane. maybe they were boyfriend-girlfriend? he wasn't in the kings, so obviously it would have to be behind brooke's back. then he noticed danica sitting alone at a table. there was only one more seat at this table, and he didn't want to mtion her over. he knew the seat was probably for brooklyn or shane. "excuse me," he said quietly then got up from the table. he pushed his chair back in and made his way over to danica. "hey," he said simply. "mind if i sit?" he stood behind the chair, waiting for her reply.

the middle renalds boy came in late. "hey!" he called out to his older brother. "jason! " he said again. he half-jogged over to him. "sorry i'm late." he stated. "what'd i miss?" he asked the older renalds child. he looked around seeing many other people. he pulled up a chair and sat down next to lyane. "hey lyane, demi!" he said, casually. then, he saw lauren. "hi uh... everyone else." he said, not realizing that there were two other people who's names he didn't know. he gave a short wave before resting his hand on his lap.

soon after shane, a blonde strutted in. her hair in soft ringlet curls and her ring shined in the moonlight. she flashed a smile here and there, but glared when she saw demi. then she gasped when she saw who was with her. "LYANE!?!?!?!" she screamed. the place practically shaking. her soft blue eyes were now harder and colder than ice. she stomped to the girl and half-shoved demi out of the way. "why are you talking to her!?!" she screeched. she glared at the dark-haired girl. "just because i came fashionably late doesn't mean you have the right to backstab me!" she snarled before whirling around on her heels and walking to a different table. ooc: sorry for the pwrplaying i think that's what I did.
