outfit for today
Sawyer opened the door and looked inside. A new year, a new dorm room. She looked in and saw four beds, one with blue polka dots, one with green, one with yellow, and one with purple. She pulled her suitcase into the room and debated on which bed to take. She finally decided on the one with the purple polka dots by the window. The room was empty, nobody else was there. Sawyer felt slightly proud of herself for getting there before anyone else, and getting the bed she wanted. She placed her bags on the bed and opened them up. She started to put all the clothes into the white wood dresser. She looked down at the only outfit she had not put away, the one she was wearing. She was wearing her favorite black jeans, a simple gray tank top, a purple cropped cardigan over it that ended just above her belly button, and a pair of black flats. She also wore her lucky ring on her finger, the same one that had belonged to her grandmother. The ring her grandmother found when she was sixteen on the ground and wore on her wedding day, and the one her mother recieved when she was sixteen, and also wore on her wedding day. Sawyer never took the ring off. She had recieved it when she was ten from her mother, and wore it ever since. It was her good luck charm.
Once she had finished unpacking, she put her suitcase under her bed and set up her guitar on it's stand. She put all her music stuff in one box, and school stuff in another. Finally, Sawyer layed on her bed and twirled the pearls on her necklace, that she also wore, in between her middle finger and her thumb. She had been up all night. She had arrived at the island the day before after visiting her family back in her hometown. She had stayed up all night just traveling to the school. Once she arrived at the school, it was closed and too late to sign in. So she had to drive back to a hotel, stay the night, and then wake up at five in the morning to be able to arrive at the school. She looked at the clock next to her bed, it read 9:03 AM. School did not start until tomorrow, but she still had a lot to do today, including go to her job at the Ocean Life Center, at the dolphin habitat. But for one moment in the last few weeks, she was alone, and it was quiet. But then she heard the crack of the door opening and jumped.
